I have no idea where this story came from. All I know is that this one's more "mature" than most of the other stuff. But not THAT mature! It'd be interesting to know what kind of effect this one has on people who don't know what's happening...

Prologue What has happened, really? No? What?
Chapter one Missions are so nice.
Chapter two * Training is also very nice.
Chapter three * Surprise missions are the best, too.

Childhood

Prologue

Since the Second World War, in which some mutants were used in warfare for the first time, normal humans have trained mutants to fight and die for them in the field. This caused the worst breakout of racism since the slave markets of medieval times because the abundance of mutants depends on the race. Africans generally do not have mutants at all, and Europeans also have very little of them. Then again, the Asians and American Indians have most mutants. Of course, the biggest amount of mutants is among the mixed races, especially with Asians and Indians.

After the Second World War, normal people started looking for mutants, used them and trained them to serve humans in warfare, common jobs like cleaning and other rather derogatory professions, often in very inhumane conditions.

When the World Trade Center buildings in New York City collapsed in a terrorist strike, followed by strikes in other big cities like Tokyo, Paris, Berlin and Brazília, the Third World War broke out. Now it was the time to use mutants they had trained.

In twenty years, the Earth turned into a half dead planet. Nuclear weapons had been destroyed or used in the beginning, and everybody was so careful that nobody could even touch uranium or plutonium without everybody noticing it.

There were three sides in the war and every single country belonged to one of them. The smallest and most powerful one was the union of the terrorist countries. The next, bigger and less powerful side was the union of western countries and their supportive countries. The biggest side was the union of the neutral countries, which were blamed for being on the other side and bombed to ashes. Some of them allied and they were suspected to form a new party to the war.

This is the story of a mutant soldier named Koye.

Koye was found to be a mutant when she was three years old. Her parents had done their best to keep Koye hidden, but the modern probing technology can find some mutants according to their brainwaves that can not be hid. Also Koye's twin brother Kenny was found, but they were separated mainly because Kenny was mute and could not do the things a field soldier should have been able to do. Koye never knew what happened to Kenny.

Koye was trained in a Canadian mutant training center, somewhere in Canada. The abilities mutants acquire when they are trained are mostly based on their mutant powers and their parents' abilities. Koye was a strong telepath, very agile and she had a healing factor.

All the trainees in the training center were listed by their abilities and the info was tattooed on their shoulders, forehead, back of their hands, chest and neck. Some of the info is tattooed right away when the mutant is found, but some of the info may change so often before they go in the field that they tattoo the main part when the mutant is twelve. Some of them, mainly the best, have also personal tattoos somewhere on their body. Koye had her birth time, 2049-01-16, on her forehead, M for mutant (H for human and L for a latent) on her chest and her name, KOYE, and an identification number, 924652, on her neck, like all the others. On her right shoulder was the age and training group mark G6TAH, G as a code for the year she was born, 6 as a specific training group and T (telepath), A (agility) and H (healing enhanced) for elaborate training group. On the left shoulder was her gender, FM (female) and her telepathy rating, T-4. On the right back of the hand was her training: C1-2 (primary computer hacker), N1-1 (navigator), T2-2 (primary technician), T1-1 (thief), FS1-1 (field soldier), S1-0 (temporary spy), FM1-0 (temporary field medic) and FL1-2 (primary team leader). On the left hand were her mutant abilities, H-1 (healing power), T-1 (telepathy) and A-1 (agility). She had a personal tattoo also, some sleek lines on her forearms.

Today, in the spring of the year 2065, Koye is sixteen years old. She has been in the field for three and a half years now.

Chapter One

Koye was on a mission to steal the blueprints of the tertiary headquarters building of the Northern Union of Europe. She had two assistants, an agile mutant telepath called Rem who could control electricity and a wild mutant called Tristan with super strength and endurance.

Koye had a remote bug camera. She laid in a gutter with Rem and Tristan and guided the bug into the meeting room, where the Scandinavians were planning. As usual, the meeting was very boring to watch, and since this was the first time for a long time to do something this boring, something just had to be done.

Tristan kept glancing at Koye whole the time. Koye started pretty soon to be fed up with it.

"Tristan", said Koye, looking at Tristan boringly.

"Yeh, that's me."

"Why d' you keep glancing at me?"

"Ye're pretty to watch."

"Oh?" Koye was surprised, but did not show it. She blushed.

"Oohh...!" Tristan touched Koye's cheek. Koye looked at Tristan, surprised.

"Wh-wh... wha– –"

"What?"

"Eh... Um..." Tristan grabbed Koye's shoulder and turned her half on her back. He then kissed her. Koye was shocked and paralyzed in her confusion. Rem was almost as surprised and paralyzed also. Tristan let Koye go. Koye looked at him. She could not say a word. "Wh... h... wh-wha..."

"What?"

"Wha-wh... What the hell was that?..."

"I kissed ye. Huh?"

"B... B-but WHY?"

"I wanted to." Koye was still in shock. She turned to lie on her stomach and looked at Tristan.

"Koye, look at that!" Rem said. The meeting was going somewhere. The important people started to take the important documents away. "C'mon! Guide the bug!" Koye started controlling the bug, but she just thought about what Tristan just did. The bug flew into wrong direction. "Hey, Koye! Turn it around! It's the wrong direction!" Koye quickly turned around the bug, barely managing to catch the document people. "That was close! Why can't – –"

"Shut up! I can't concentrate!" Koye started thinking about Tristan again, guiding the bug into a wall.

"Aagh! There goes that bug!" Rem stated. Koye saw the important people turn around when the security system noticed the bug. Koye quickly destroyed the bug remotely.

"Good for you!" Tristan implied. "The boss is gonna kill us for this!"

"Hopefully YOU! Why did ye KISS me!?"

"I wanted to! An' it was nice!" Koye was quiet.

"He's goin' nuts!" Rem said to Koye telepathically.

"Yeah..." Koye was quiet.

"Okay, I have to go." Rem left.

"Perfect time to go! D' ye wanna kiss me again, Koye?" Koye turned her head away, but she admitted that kissing had felt pretty good. However, she did not want to kiss Tristan. Preferably, she would kiss even Rem before Tristan. But Tristan did not know it, so he just held Koye's head and kissed her for a long time. Koye did not fight back, even though she wanted him to stop.

"Tristan, stop! Don't do that again! I can't concentrate!"

"Yeah, right! I've been watchin' ye like this for some time an' it's never disturbed ME! Why would this disturb ye?"

"We're on a mission! Ye just suddenly started suckin' me! Who wouldn't be disturbed?"

"Me!"

"Of course... But it disturbs me, so don't do it again!" Tristan was quiet.

He suddenly touched Koye's side and stroked it. Koye startled bad.

"– –! Will you STOP it already!?" She slapped Tristan's hand off her and stood up.

Rem came back.

"Okay, we'll go in there now! Tristan, ye stay in here an' distract the cameras while me an' Rem go in an' steal those damn blueprints!"

"Now?!" Rem asked. "But they've raised the security when they noticed the bug! We can't go in there now!"

"Oh yes we can! I can't stand this moron anymore! Let's just get them! We won't get caught!" Rem was quiet. "Okay, Tristan? Start in two minutes!" Koye started running with Rem after her.

It was good until Koye and Rem got the blueprints. A person was checking up on the safety of the blueprints. They ran for their lives.

Outside the building tens of soldiers were waiting for them. Fortunately Tristan came and blasted most of them away, using his energy launcher.

"Kay, yer losin' it!" shouted Tristan. "I – –"

"Yer fucking it! It was yer fault! The boss's gonna kill ye for that!"

"She's right, Tee! I hope ya die!"

"Let's go already!" They started running. Tristan was tripped. A soldier ripped off his left shoulder cover, catching his neck. Tristan hit the soldier's head off and ran after Koye and Rem.

"GREAT!" shouted Koye to Tristan as they ran. "They got some of yer infos!"

"Shut up, fucker!" Koye was quiet.

They ran to a mountain range and hid in a cave.

Koye walked up to Tristan. "This is YOUR fault!"

"No, it's NOT! YOU went there before they had calmed down!"

"It's your fault that I did that! You fucking KISSED me!"

"C'mon, stop it already!" snapped Rem from further away. "Can ye inform the boss to get us outta here, Koye?"

"Not yet... The Scandies are monitorin' the submissions an' I don't have any encrypt equipment." They were quiet for a moment.

Tristan moved a little closer to Koye. "Okay, what should we do?" He glanced at Koye, who looked at him angrily. "Ye wanna kiss me again?"

"NO!"

"I know ye want it!"

"No I DON'T!" Koye looked at Rem. Tristan grabbed Koye's shoulders and Rem then used his electricity powers and gave Tristan a good jump.

Tristan huddled on the ground for a moment. As soon as his synapses worked again, he started yelling at Rem. "Fuckin' cock-sucker! Double-idiot!"

Koye stepped up to Tristan. "Assistant Tristan! Punishment for resisting, grappling and disturbing the team leader, and mocking the fellow assistant! A through-night guard outside the cave and you have to warm our food!" She lifted Tristan up a little, using her left foot. Tristan did nothing, but stayed in a sitting position.

"Words... Ye're weak! You couldn't beat me in a fight! At what rights are ye the team leader?" Koye got furious and double-kicked Tristan's hand and face.

Rem was worried. "Hey, don't...! Stop!"

Koye hit Tristan's stomach and Tristan threw her over himself. Koye landed on the cave wall, took a leap and poked Tristan's eyes.

"AUGH!" Now Tristan got furious. Koye sensed it, becoming scared. She was on the ground after jumping and Tristan jumped on her. Koye curled up and Tristan hit her sides hard.

"ARGH! UH! Stop! AIII-ARGH!"

Rem kicked Tristan in the head and Tristan swayed a little. Koye slipped from under him, stood up and intended to kick him. Rem caught her.

"Koye! Stop! Don't..." Tristan got up and even though Rem held Koye, she was about to jump at Tristan. "No, don't!" Koye startled and Tristan reached for her and Rem. Rem electrified him again.

"Leggo! I wanna squish him!"

Rem was rather anxious by now. "Come on! We're telepaths! Let's do this our way!"

"But I wanna have at him!" Rem let Koye go and Koye hit and kicked Tristan until blood started coming out from his mouth.

"KOYE! STOP NOW!" Rem pulled Koye away from Tristan. Koye got Rem and, being stronger, she pushed him against a wall.

"No-yelling-at-the-team-leader." Koye had a faint glow of insanity in her eyes. Rem was badly startled. He tried to cover his face, protect himself. Koye soon let Rem go. She went deeper into the cave. Tristan was not in a bad shape. He was just unconscious and bleeding a little. He would heal soon. Rem took care of him, warmed the food and then came to Koye. He gave Koye some food and sat right next to her. They did not say a word.

Koye lay down and fell asleep. Rem knew somebody should guard the cave, concluding that now would be the time to punish Tristan for what he did. Rem woke Tristan up and made him guard the cave. Then he lay down behind Koye.

Tristan recovered from Rem's "brainwash" and after a few hours he was himself again. Then again, he did not want to get "brainwashed" again, so he just snickered at Rem and Koye, thinking he knew something, and kept on guarding.

Koye woke up later, soon becoming confused because during the night Rem had put his other hand on her chest. She got up and sat on the ground. Rem woke up as his hand hit the ground.

"Oh please! Don't YOU start with this..."

Rem really did not know what was going on. "With what?"

"Okay, nothing. Jus' don't sleep behind me next time."

"Hey, Koyey!" shouted Tristan from the mouth of the cave. "Can I sleep now?"

Koye did not answer, but talked to Rem instead. "Oh shit... He so thinks he knows something..." Koye looked at Rem. "I so hope the Boss believes me and gives a new fighter for me."

"Yeah... Y'd really fight better without him."

"Koyey-yy!" continued Tristan.

Rem: "Who are ye talking to? There's no kid named Koyey in our group!" Tristan walked to them.

"I mean this Koyey here." He went right next to Koye and pointed at her head from above.

"Although ye might not know it, I have a name, ye asshole."

"Yeah, Koyey! An' y'know, I have a name too! To you it's darling or honey!"

"Would ye just FUCK OFF, WILL YE?!" Koye kicked Tristan straight in his crotch. "Okay, now that I had my revenge... From now on, y'll shut up, unless ye're asked something. Or I'll jes' use my telepathy. UNDERSTOOD!?"

Tristan kept his mouth shut for the whole journey to the meeting place, where the helicopter that had brought them there came to pick them up. They flew back to the base, the training facility.

The training facility, or the base as it as most often called, was a place somewhere in the middle of nowhere. The mutants knew basically nothing else of it.

It was a big complex on the surface and under the ground, in a large, deep valley from which it would be very hard to escape. Everything was organized by the human leaders, and no one else knew anything, not even the human guards and other low-level human service staff. The mutants, latents (humans with latent mutant genes) and human outcasts (orphans, invalids, those who had committed crime), who were trained in the facility, did the dirty work. They cleaned the premises, prepared food and clothes, tested and built machines and so on. There were also normal human workers, like the guards, who took care of the human leaders in the complex. They could not risk the mutants and others harming the humans in any way. Some human leaders lived in the complex, some were there part-time, and some visited there only occasionally and worked primarily in a human living area in the nearest city.

Chapter Two

Koye was very known among the young, the twelve- to nineteen-year-olds, and assumingly also among the older mutants in the base. There were hundreds of mutant children and almost everybody knew Koye, if nothing else, then her name at least. There were some others too who were very known but Koye was currently the youngest of them. Koye did not really know why she was so known.

After they had arrived, they gave their field uniforms away and gave the important documents to the Boss. Koye and Rem were given special telepathic suppressors to keep them from reading the minds of the humans.

Boss: "Mission succeeded! Group leader Koye, prepare a report of this mission tomorrow before twelve o'clock and bring it to me then. I want you all in my office at twelve."

"Yes, ser", answered Koye.

Koye, Rem and Tristan were taken to the sleeping premises. In every room, there was a big bed, a shower and a toilet. Usually there were two to three kids in every room. When they were supposed to go to sleep, the guards put the kids into the rooms in no apparent order. At the doorway, their eyes and shoulder tattoo information were scanned so that it would be known who was in that room and which type of uniforms they should get in the morning. There were lots of rooms empty now, as many kids were on missions, training or real ones. The guard put Tristan into one room with another kid and Koye and Rem together into another.

"That must be a new guard... They wouldn't let us two share a room together otherwise", said Koye as she took off her telepathic suppressor. Rem did the same. They stripped their base uniforms, putting them into a tube that took them to be washed or replaced. They went to the shower together and washed each other. Having done that, they went to bed together. Since they rarely got to sleep together in the base, they were rather happy, cuddling and hugging.

"Have ye... ever thought about that... kissing thing?" asked Koye as she stroked Rem's hair.

"No... Not until when Tristan tried to..."

"What would it feel like... if...?"

"I think it'll feel nice if... ye want it..."

"Ye wanna try?" Koye grinned.

"Yeh." Rem smiled. They touched each other's faces, closed their eyes and kissed, or at least tried to. They practiced kissing for a few times and then felt like they knew how to and kept cuddling.

In the morning, they got their base uniforms. The uniforms were basically like two-part swimming suits with very short trouser legs.

They went to the eating premises to have breakfast. Then Rem went to prepare uniforms, like he usually did, and if Koye had not had to do the report, she would have gone to the halls to build machines. She went to the computer room. There were twenty computers that were made for mutants to prepare their reports and something else if they had something else to prepare with them. There were two other kid mutant group leaders preparing their reports and five mutant adults who Koye did not know. Koye logged in to the computer, wrote the report, saved it on a portable disk, took the disk and left. She went to the halls to test machines until it was quarter to twelve. She then left, meeting Rem and Tristan in front of the Boss's office.

"I like these base uniforms." Tristan grinned, speaking in a low voice. "Nice tits, Koye." Koye was very confused and looked at her chest, embarrassed. She did not even have "tits".

Guard: "Silence, mutie!"

"Titty – –", Tristan whispered. The guard hit Tristan's face with a gun bottom.

"You heard me, pretty-blonde-boyo mutie!" Tristan looked meanly at the guard but kept his mouth shut. Koye started to think that guard was her favorite one. The same guard had let her and Rem share the room yesterday.

The boss took the kids into his office in a minute. "Attention! Koye, hand the report to me." Koye gave the disk. "Now, tell what difficulties did you encounter on the mission."

"Yes, ser. Actually the only difficulty was that Tristan started harassing me, an' he hasn't stopped yet..."

"What did he do?"

"He stared at me, grappled an' touched me, called me names an' talked dirty to me, ser."

"For example?"

"Just a minute ago, he said, 'Nice tits, Koye!' an' on the mission... he kissed me. Ser."

"Hm. Tristan, what do you have to say for yourself?"

"I think it's normal an' that Koye's overreacting, ser."

"And do you have something to say to this?" asked the boss, meaning Rem.

"Rem, ser. Yes, Tristan was being very unfair, obscene an' disrespectful, ser. He also yelled at me when I tried to prevent him from teasing Koye."

"Hm-hmm. Do you have anything more to say, Tristan?"

"Those two are wimps, ser." Koye and Rem glanced at Tristan meanly and surprised.

"Koye?"

"Tristan is an idiot, ser."

"You?"

"Rem, ser. I may be a wimp, but Koye's not. An' Tristan is an idiot, ser."

"Tristan?"

"They're both overreacting over nothing an' lie their heads off. They need more tough handling in training, ser."

"Very well. You, Tristan, dismissed!

"Yes, ser."

"Rem, ser. Yes, ser." Rem and Tristan left.

"It seems that Tristan really harassed you, Koye."

"Yes, ser. I was very confused."

"It's a good reminder for you. You're not the best, Koye."

"Ser, I never thought I was."

"Don't you?"

"No, ser. I don't even care if I was, ser."

"Heh heh... Well, since Tristan is so stupid, I'll give you a new team on the next mission and move Tristan to the growing team of horny teen boys."

"Can I keep Rem on my team, ser?"

"Who?"

"That other one who was in here, ser."

"I'll see."

"Thank you, ser."

"Very well. Koye, dismissed!"

"Yes, ser." Koye left and went back to the halls.

At 14:30 Koye went to eat lunch and met Rem.

Koye: "The Boss'll get Tristan off my team."

"That's good."

"I don't know... It seems that you get off my team too."

"Uh..." They were quiet for a while.

"D' ye like making uniforms?"

"Uhh... It's a bit boring, but yeah." Rem was quiet for a moment. "D' you like building an' testing machines?"

"It's okay." They stared at each other's eyes, wondering what the other was thinking. The headbands they had to wear suppressed their telepathic abilities, so they just kept staring. Rem's stare then slipped and he looked at Koye's food. They both started eating again.

Koye regained her awareness when she noticed a group of kids younger than her standing next to the table she and Rem were at. Koye stopped eating, straightened herself and looked at the young kids who she did not know. She did not say a word and that seemed to bother the kids.

"...Um... Aren't you... Koye?" one of them asked.

"Aye, that's me..."

"Um... you're a telepath." Koye glanced at her left shoulder and then at the kids'. None of them were telepaths. Koye was confused. "We... were told that you're strong."

"I am." The kids looked at Koye's left hand.

"But... you aren't."

"I am. I'm agile, a strong telepath an' have enhanced healing."

"But... you aren't strong. That's not your power."

"Super strength is for losers. It doesn't matter one bit. The real force is the power of the mind. But you can't know that, can you? Now piss off. I talk to very few non-telepaths." The kids seemed anxious and hurt. They hesitated.

"Wh-who's he, then?"

"My field team navigator. Another agile telepath."

"We-we thought you... you'd... you were..."

"Sod off. I don't talk to you." The kids hesitated for yet another moment before they quickly walked away. As soon as they had found a free table, they started speaking anxiously. Fortunately, it was too far from Koye and Rem's table for Koye to hear what they exactly were saying over the noise.

Koye finished eating and looked at Rem who still had some food left on his plate. Koye piled her dishes on her tray and moved next to Rem. She sat left from Rem, lay her head on the table, facing at Rem and put her right hand on Rem's thigh. Her left hand she laid on Rem's warm stomach. Rem was a little surprised and looked at Koye. He smiled and closed his eyes for a short while. He opened them, looking at his food and soon finished eating it.

They got up, took the trays for washing and went to the training gym. They had guided self-defense today. It would start in half an hour. In there, they saw a little newcomer kid, twelve and half years old, trying to understand the information screen. Koye walked over to the kid. The kid had a telepathic suppressor, so she was a telepath.

"Hey, kid. What're ye lookin' for?"

"Uh... Am I supposed to be here?"

"Excuse me..." Koye lifted the girl's hair enough to see the tattoos on the back of her neck. Her name was Lilian and Koye took note of the ID number also. "Look. The easiest way is to do a search for your name and age group. Your age group is 52, or 'I'. There." Koye had Lilian's information on the screen. "You're an agile telepath. You have guided self-defense training with me and the other agile telepaths."

"I just came here yesterday", the kid said, not looking at Koye.

"Yeh, I can see that." Koye looked at Lilian's tied-up tattoos, red face and that small, huddled way of standing, all of them characteristics of a scared little newcomer.

"They're hurting", said Lilian, rubbing the backs of her hands.

"It'll stop after a few days." Koye stroked the girl's shoulder. "I want to warn ye now... The trainers have fun with new kids. They'll make ye do all stupid stuff an' make ye do so hard things yer body's going to hurt for a week after it."

"What?"

"Yeah... Sorry, but that's the way it is." Lilian started weeping and hugged Koye.

"I want away from here!..."

"Tough."

"Yhh... ehh..."

"I'll give ye a tip... just do what the trainers say and start crying whenever ye feel like it. An' if ye can't do something, try it an' then say ye can't. An' remember to start crying." Lilian kept weeping, but she managed to stop before the training started.

"Attention!" The trainer was a human and since this group was for agile telepaths, the trainer wore an electric headband, an inverted telepathic suppressor. Usually only the mutants wore them, but this way the delicate headbands would not be broken so easily. The youths stood there and the trainer checked if everyone was there. "...and you're new?"

"Y-yes", Lilian stammered.

Koye noticed that Lilian left out the ser part. "...Ser."

"...ser!"

"Ooh, you telepaths are so cute. Who said that?"

"Me, ser", said Koye, knowing that worse would follow if she did not tell it right away. The hall had telepathic detectors that could be checked later to find out who of them it had been.

"Okay. You, Koye, here. Trinity, hold the normal warm-up training. You, Koye, attention! You'll fight against Koye now. Koye, don't defend yourself or dodge. Let her hit you. And you, hit Koye as hard and as fast as you can. I'll tell you when to stop."

Koye seemed indifferent. "Yes, ser."

"Yes, ser..."

"Well, start hitting me. It doesn't matter if you hurt me bad, I'll heal."

Lilian hesitated. "Uh... ser..."

"What?"

"Can I use my third mutant power?"

"Remember to say 'ser' always after you say something..."

"What kind of power is it? Use it on Koye."

"Uh... yes, ser..." Lilian put her hand hesitantly on Koye's arm, barely touching. Koye felt something very unpleasant as Lilian's fingers stung her painfully. Koye's skin ripped and bled.

"Aagh!" The wound was very coarse and if Koye had not had her healing power, that wound would takes ages to heal. It healed slowly even now.

Lilian kept on explaining. "And... if I hit Koye, it'll... be even worse. ...Ser!"

"Well, hit her then, as hard as you can, but just once, and use that power of yours." The trainer spoke in a mischievous tone.

"Yes, ser." Lilian lifted her wrist and swung it at Koye.

"AAGH!" Koye's skin ripped very badly although Lilian had not hit her that hard. Her skin was but bloody pulp. The blood flowed down her chest. She fell. Her uniform had shredded into pieces where Lilian had touched it.

"Well, that's interesting. Koye, go clean that up and if you need to tie that, do it, and come back here. And get a new uniform."

"Yes, ser." Koye went into the dressroom. Her skin was really ripped. She cleaned it but since it did not stop bleeding, she tied it.

"Okay, you, don't use that power of yours in these trainings."

"Yes, ser."

"For fuck's sake, Lilian, tell your name", said Trinity, one of the oldest telepaths in the group.

"Uh?"

"Jus' say, 'My name's Lilian, ser' an' that's it."

"Uh... My name's Lilian, ser."

"Then see if I still remember it at the end of this training. Lilian, twenty push-ups before Koye comes back!"

"Yes, ser."

Koye came back.

"Okay, Koye, Lilian, continue!" Lilian started hitting and kicking Koye. Koye did not get badly hurt but it was not nice either.

"Don't stop, you two. Koye, when I say 'now!', hit her in the chest just so hard that her ribs won't broke. Understood? And Lilian, do your best to block."

"Yes, ser."

"Yeh-es, ser." They carried on for a little time.

"Now!" Koye hit Lilian. Lilian had no time at all to react, so she cried and flew on her back. "Weak little newbie. Koye, help her up and come here. Attention!" The youths stood to attention. "Okay, you know what to do. You'll pair up the following way: Trinity, Koye! Tyler, Gretchen! Uly, Koje! Kher, Xenon! You, Ion!"

"Dragah, ser."

"Valo, Rem! You, Shaw!"

"Lyane, ser."

"You two! And you, and, uh, Lilian, you come here. I'll explain to you both how this goes."

"Shole, ser."

Koye looked at Trinity. "Ser?"

"What?"

"Me and Trinity, ser?"

"Yes, Koye! Trinity, beat her up good!"

"Yes, ser."

"Begin!"

Trinity was almost nineteen years old, and even though Koye was strong for her age and body structure, Trinity was, at least now, even stronger for her own age. Koye did not have a chance against her.

Trinity: "Deal, Koye. Don't kick me between my legs an' I won't break your bones."

"Okay." They started fighting. In many ways, they were like an older and younger version of the same person. If they were the same age, they would basically be just as fast, just as agile, just as strong and just as powerful telepaths. But since they were not, Trinity had an excessively unfair advantage over Koye. It did not take long until Koye was lying on her back her mouth bleeding and Trinity over her.

That continued until the training was over. Lilian was crying on the floor, and Shole, her partner, was not in good shape either.

"Attention, kids!" The youths lined up. "That was it! Dismissed!"

Lilian was almost too tired to even move, but luckily Shole helped her, even though he was hurting pretty much as much as she. Koye was very tired after the exercise as well. Rem and Trinity helped her. Most of the youths stayed in the gym hall to stretch for a while before going to shower.

Later, the trainer came to see the kids in the shower part of the dressrooms.

"How are you feeling, Koye?" asked the trainer in a mischievous tone.

"Like shit, ser." The trainer would have asked Lilian too, if she had not been crying.

Koye looked at Valo. Valo was Rem's friend and he was in the uniform-making section too. Koye liked Valo as well, as she liked Rem and Trinity, and a few more people in the base.

The trainer left. More kids came into the shower premises. They were the group of super-strong and -endurant kids. They did not like telepaths because to them, it felt threatening that there were people who were much weaker than they were but still would win if they had to fight. Tristan was with them.

Some of the kids had to wait because there were no shower spaces free at this moment. Koye, Trinity and Rem were together in one shower space. Tristan came there.

"Hey, Koye! Who's beaten ya up? Rem'd probably like to have you alone on a mission in that condition..."

Trinity smashed Tristan's face and stung his private parts with her telekinesis. "Heh heh heh..."

"Fuck you, ya whore! Bitch!" Trinity was amused and kept kicking Tristan all over the floor. The other super-strong mutants did not dare to help him because they knew Trinity would stop them anyway. A guard at the shower room door chuckled.

Trinity stopped kicking Tristan around and looked at the other super-strong mutants. "Duh. Take care of him, you." Trinity went back to Rem and Koye.

Koye grinned. "That was just too fun..."

Trinity looked at the guard who was obviously very amused. "Heh."

Rem had washed himself. He looked into the next shower space where Lilian and Shole were. "How're ya doing?"

Lilian was still sniffing. Her tattoos were almost bleeding. Shole did not look up at Rem or even say anything.

"Do ya wanna learn how to ease pain with telepathy?"

Now Shole looked up. "Can you do that?"

"Heh, you can do it to yerself even, if you're good enough. I'll do it to you first, okay? Y'll have to let me go into your mind. I won't read anything."

"Okay." Rem went into Shole's mind and blocked the pain sensors. "Uh, wow!" The pain impulses flowing through Shole's body stopped wholly. His body felt numb but at least it did not hurt anymore.

"Okay, now, just concentrate on what I'm doing in your mind. You'll learn to do it yourself." Shole concentrated. He maybe could not have done it otherwise, but Rem was in fact having Shole's body release different chemicals that made him feel good and calm. Shole saw what Rem was doing and managed to do it himself. Rem turned to Lilian. "Can I do it to ya too?"

"Yeah..." Lilian let Rem into her mind and he blocked her pain sensors. "Aah! Oh my! I really feel better now..."

"Can I now let Shole into your mind so that he learns how to do it?"

"Yeah."

Rem looked at Shole. "Okay, just come in an' follow me." Shole went into Lilian's mind and saw how it goes.

"Oh, it's that simple?"

"Yeah. You can now teach it to her an' every other telepath who doesn't know it."

"Thanks a lot." Lilian and Shole both smiled at Rem.

Koye looked at Rem and touched his shoulder. Rem moved back into the shower space Koye and Trinity were in.

Trinity noticed the change. She sprayed some water on them. "Come on, I know ya wanna do it. I'll cover ya." She kept on spraying the water on the two as they hugged and kissed each other.

Soon most of the telepaths had left the shower and got their telepathic suppressors. They went to the common areas. Koye and Trinity ended up playing a card game with a group of other telepaths. After their free time was over, Koye and Trinity went back to the machine halls.

Chapter Three

"Attention, Xenon of G7, Ghordot of B7 and Koye of G9", echoed the internal PA system around the eating halls. "Come to Boss Office 5 at 20:00. I repeat: Xenon, Ghordot, Koye, BO5 at 20. End."

Koye was having dinner with Valo and Rem. Both boys looked at Koye, wondering if she knew something.

"Me and Xenon? What the...?" She had no idea who Ghordot was, so she just ignored the name and talked about Xenon.

"Um", said Valo, swallowing his food. "Maybe you get to go on a mission with him?"

"I'm two years younger than him. I don't think so."

"Maybe you are really good enough."

"I don't think so. What am I good at anyway? Nothing especially."

"Well, at least the Boss seems to think you're good", said Rem. "Ralet told me how the boss spoke of you after the last mission. I slept with him three nights ago." Koye did not reply, but took her tray and left. It was seven minutes to 20.

Everybody knew it was more than likely that the announcement meant that Koye would go on a mission with Xenon. Xenon was an agile telepath like Koye and very known, only two years older. Koye did not even know what his third power was, or if he had one in the first place. Koye had never really spoken to him and did not know him.

Koye arrived at the Boss's office and saw Xenon waiting there. Another boy, Ghordot, arrived just after Koye had stopped walking. Xenon looked at her, not really knowing what was going on either.

"What's going on here? Koye?" asked Ghordot. "Aren't you a little too young for going on a mission with older mutants?" Koye was quiet, looking away.

"I don't know", Xenon said.

"This must be a joke." Koye and Xenon were quiet, leaning against the wall. As soon as Ghordot figured either of them would not reply, he also leaned on the wall.

The Boss soon took them in.

"Attention, Xenon, Ghordot, Koye! At ease. You'll be going on a mission after two days." The boss outlined the mission. It was a rather simple one; they would only have to break into a military base and assassinate the board leaders. The base itself would be difficult to get into, and they would receive some special equipment. The Boss was quiet for a short moment. To Xenon it seemed like it was done intentionally so that Ghordot could break the silence.

"Ser?"

"Yes?"

"May I ask what this kid is doing here, ser?"

"She'll join you on the mission. The reasons include the need to determine how good Koye is, whether you can cooperate and the fact that at the moment, Koye is the only one who can operate the equipment you need." Ghordot looked slightly embarrassed and glanced at Koye half angrily. "You will share the work on the field the following way: Koye is the leader and Xenon is the navigator. Xenon, Koye, you two will need your telepathic abilities on this mission."

Xenon was rather surprised, but from another point of view, it made sense. Koye was the only one who was a primary leader. Ghordot's mind floated in a mixture of anger and shock.

"You – –", the boss said, nodding at Ghordot, "– – will be needed for locating because of your enhanced senses. True, there are many others who could do this instead of you, but as I said, this is mainly a test. As long as you finish the job. You'll sleep this and the next night together in the preparing room. Here." The Boss handed a data disk to Koye. "Some more specific info on the mission and extended data on all of you. Be sure to go through it together, today and tomorrow. Attention, Xenon, Ghordot, Koye! Dismissed!"

"Yes, ser", the youths said, leaving the room.

Ghordot started speaking as soon as they got out. "This must be a joke! You're way too young! What the hell is so special about you that you have to be the leader?" he asked Koye.

"I wish I knew", Koye replied monotonically. She knew Ghordot was older and did not stand up against him.

"Huh?!"

"Quit it. She doesn't know more than you or me", Xenon said.

They walked over to the preparing rooms, which were basically sleeping rooms with a computer to check the data. Koye handed the data disk to a guard who checked it and then let them into a free room. They took their uniforms off and sent them down the tube that would take them to be washed or replaced.

"You're not going to take those off, are you?" Ghordot asked, meaning Koye and Xenon's telepathic suppressors.

"Yes, we are. We're not allowed to sleep with them on and besides, we must use our abilities on the mission, so you better get used to it." Xenon took his suppressor off, as did Koye. Their minds expanded and they looked at each other. Ghordot felt very uneasy.

"Geeze... Don't you read my mind or I'll report you."

"Do you think the Bosses care? If it was up to them, we could do anything we want with your mind. Just for your information, we don't really like reading other people's minds. So don't complain." Ghordot mumbled something and looked away. Koye offered the data disk at him.

"Give me the damn data – –", Ghordot said and turned, seeing Koye holding the data disk for him. Ghordot grabbed it quickly and went over to the computer screen.

"We should go to shower. Come on, Koye, come with me." Xenon took Koye's hand gently in his. They went into the shower. Xenon took the tap, adjusted the temperature of the water and sprayed the water on Koye's body. "Are you okay?"

"Well... not really", Koye answered reservedly. "That Ghordot is getting on my nerves."

"He's a stubborn normal. Don't mind him."

"An' I guess you're a bit surprised at this..."

"Well, yeah, but.... Well, it's going to be interesting to see how good you are if the bosses have so much trust in you."

"Hmph!" Xenon watered himself and then handed the tap over to Koye. He took some detergent from the other tap and started rubbing it all over his body. After Koye was done with the tap, she handed it back to Xenon and did what he had just done. Xenon washed the detergent off. He sprayed the water on Koye, touching her chest right below the collarbone with his free hand. Koye startled slightly, looking from Xenon's hand to his chest and to his face.

"Have... uh... Have you done it?" asked Xenon reservedly. Koye did not answer. "Uh... Do you know what I'm talking about?"

"No." Koye looked at Xenon's stomach.

"Oh, uh, okay. I'm sorry I confused you." They looked at each other for a moment. "Are you done?"

"Yeah." Xenon stroked Koye's shoulder lightly while turning off the water.
